We have mentioned it before but we'll say it again – we feel incredibly fortunate to live so close to some of the most stunning beaches in the UK! Given the abundance of beaches in West Wales, it's impossible to cover them all in a single blog post. So here we focus on our top three favourite Cardigan Bay beaches nearby:
This expansive Cardigan Bay beach, even on busy days like bank holidays, gives off a serene and spacious vibe. Nestled at the mouth of the River Teifi, it's perfect for leisurely strolls, beach sports like football or cricket and exploring remarkable sand dunes.
2. Llangrannog - Situated 37 minutes away from Larkhill Tipis and Yurts (18 miles).
This charming beach in a quaint village is a popular spot for families and is surrounded by stunning coastal scenery. When the tide goes out there’s another beach just as large that can be accessed over the sand… but if the tide comes back in then a walk up and over the hill along the Welsh Coastal Path will take you back to the main beach. With a variety of shops and dining options (we recommend Tafell a Tan for fantastic wood-fired pizza), you can easily spend an entire day here. For free parking, there's a parking area at the top of the village (a summer shuttle mini-bus service is available).
3. Mwnt A 42-minute drive, 21 miles away.
Mwnt boasts dramatic and picturesque scenery that feels like you are at the edge of Wales! Tucked away in a sheltered cove accessible by many steps, this National Trust protected beach is known for dolphin sightings in its bay and features a charming old church. Mwnt has a mystical element to it, feeling an ancient and special part of Cardigan Bay.
There are many other beaches we would also recommend visiting if you are planning a trip to Cardigan Bay while you stay with us, including Tresaith (has its own waterfall), Penbryn (access the beach via a native woodland), New Quay (for boat trips), Aberaeron and Aberystwyth.
With so many to choose from you could easily spend a week here with every day visiting a new beach, or even two! Beaches in Wales definitely deserve more exposure and appreciation.
