If you're staying with us you’re in a great spot to choose which direction to go in, with scenic surroundings and a wealth of indoor activities and cozy escapes perfect for a wet weather day. From historical attractions to creative workshops, there's something for everyone. Here are some ideas to make the most of a rainy day in West Wales:

History & Culture

Dive into the rich tapestry of West Wales' past. The Carmarthenshire County Museum offers fascinating exhibits on local history, archaeology and art. Or you could visit the National Wool Museum in Drefach Felindre which tells the story of the Welsh wool industry, a vital part of this region's heritage. See the machines at work and have a go at spinning wool. In Cardigan you could visit the impressive Cardigan Castle with its fascinating history spanning centuries. Explore the castle walls, imagine past sieges and enjoy the views.

Cafes, Treats and Retail Therapy

Carmarthen and Cardigan are brimming with independent cafés.  If you're heading to Cardigan we recommend Crwst or Food For Thought. In Newcastle Emlyn, around 10 minutes from us, we definitely recommend the award winning Riverside Cafe for vegetarian and vegan dishes that will amaze you! And don’t forget to keep an eye out for the classic Welsh dishes Cawl, Welsh Rarebit or Bara Brith. The Carmarthen Indoor Market is a must-visit, offering a diverse array of local produce, crafts and food stalls. A perfect way to spend a rainy morning or afternoon. Cardigan Market is also a great spot and the high street has a good array of independent shops.

If you're looking for the kids to burn off some energy then The Loft in Cardigan has some great activities including mini-golf, wall climbing and more! In Carmarthen why not reach new heights at Carmarthen Overhang! Whilst Excel Bowl and Sgilliau Play Centre are sure to keep the kids amused too!  Theatr Mwldan in Cardigan offers a diverse program of films, theatre performances and live music – a perfect option for an evening of entertainment. Check their listings for family-friendly options. We would also recommend a visit to the quaint Lyric Theatre (you’ll know it if you've seen the film ‘Save The Cinema’ starring Jonathan Price, Tom Felton and Samantha Morton).

Unleash your inner artist with a craft workshop. Several local studios offer pottery painting, jewellery making and other creative activities. For pottery we recommend Gwili Pottery, run by a lovely local family some 5 miles from our glamping site in west Wales. If you like stained glass, we have Moraith Glass just around the corner and Cariad Glass in Llandysul. Check their websites for updates of classes/workshops.  Some local distilleries and breweries offer tours and tastings – a great way to sample local spirits and learn about the production process. We recommend  Da’mhile .
