Maybe you have done a few self-catering holidays before - an airbnb, a cabin or chalet… but perhaps you are looking for something unique and adventurous!
Yurts have become a big part of glamping holidays in the UK and here at Larkhill Tipis and Yurts we describe ourselves as one of the OG’s of glamping in Wales! We launched our tipi holidays back in 2003… before the word glamping was even a thing!
"I used to go glamping at least once a year with my family. This glamping is absolutely the best comparing with my past experience. It provides more than all you need and what you expect. The host is extremely nice and friendly. We will definitely come to visit again."

Our yurt holidays are hugely popular with families! Our woodland location makes it perfect for kids to roam free and explore to their heart’s content! Not much screen time here! With a park, a mud kitchen, den building in the woods and lots of animal wood sculptures to find there’s lots to keep kids amused! In the evenings marshmallows around the campfire are a must and for the bravest souls a game of manhunt in the woods.
"We have just returned from our first family holiday here. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and comfortable. Despite the unseasonably wet weather we were warm and cosy in our Yurt, some of the best nights sleep I've had in a long time. The whole site is so thoughtfully put together, providing both privacy and a sense of community. The lodge house has everything you need to cook a proper meal, and the communal campfire provided much conversation and entertainment in the evenings. The site has everything you need to camp in comfort, plenty of woodland for children to safely explore and perfectly situated to enjoy the various attractions of the area. Having just returned home we are already planning our return visit, it was the best holiday we've had in years in comparison to overpriced soulless caravan parks."

It’s in the word… glamping… camping but posher! While we aren’t as “glam” as some places… no four poster beds and jacuzzis here, getting to sleep on a bed with a warm fire nearby on a yurt holiday definitely beats sleeping on the floor of a cold wet tent. Families love keeping the sense of adventure but with the added bonus of less work and a lot more comfort than a camping holiday. All the pots, pans, blankets and cushions are already here so you can focus on having quality time together! If you’re unfortunate to have wet weather while you're here, the sound of droplets on the roof can be calming and relaxing.
The Yurts themselves cater for families of 4 or 6! Our Mongolian Ger and Bentwood Yurt contain a double bed and two singles, a camping stove, shelves, table and a wood-burner to keep you nice and cosy. We can provide bedding for you (so you have a bit more space in the car), all the cooking equipment you’ll need and you can buy wood for the burner here too (your first basket is included in the stay).
Our Alachigh is great for bigger families as it sleeps 6, there’s four singles and a double bed - all in one big space! Like the smaller yurts it also has a camping stove, furniture, breakfast bar and a wood-burner. We can also provide travel cots upon request.
If you’ve children who are into all things eco-friendly they may love the fact that we are completely off grid here (read our eco page here) - all our electricity is produced by solar panels and wind generators! We have cold boxes and ice packs to keep your food cool as we don’t quite have enough to have fridges in each yurt - yet!
Unlike many parts of the UK, Wales - especially West Wales where we are - isn’t too busy! We have so much to see and do including a massive selection of beaches, castles, walks and a growing number of family day’s out like Folly Farm, Heatherton, Cardigan Bay Farm Park and an Iron Age Fort. Visit our explore page to see what’s on offer.
"If a rural getaway in beautiful surroundings, off grid and plenty of fresh air with a soupçon of magic is what you’re after (as we were), then you’re in for a treat! The beds were surprisingly comfortable, the log burners were great to take the chill off (we came in autumn), the fairy lights were magical, the views impressive…the thought that has gone into the amenities and workings of this site is nothing short of genius. The adults and kids loved it alike. Definitely a safe space to let kids explore and enjoy discovering new things and friends…ideal."

As you may have guessed from our name we also have a Tipi, and a sort of hybrid Tipi - a Lavvu. These are also great for families and have a very different feel to the yurts. Have a look here.
